From the Basement

About The Girl Downstairs

This blog has seen me graduate from college, job hunt, go through two application seasons for graduate school, and finally start graduate school (along with married life!). The issues tend to focus around faith, writing, family, and the occasional cultural or literary issue. You can contact me at

  1. I use to live in a basement in Lynchburg, Va. I was attending grad school at the time. It was the later part if the spring semester and I decided to move out of a house full of fellow students & find some solitude. So, I discovered an older lady (about 70 years old or more, through the schools housing office; she wanted to rent her basement. She was nice & her basement was cool i.e. not too hor nor cold, although there was a bit of humidity down there. But I liked it just the same. The basement had a stove so I could cook, if I wanted. I don’t remember much more. But, regardless, I enjoyed living there for a while. I like to write, although I’ve not been published as much as I had envisioned. But, I keep on writing. 🙂
